As someone who has carried a sketchbook with them everywhere since they were 11 years old, I’ve heard it all:
“I wish I could draw.”“
“I wish I had talent.”
“I can only draw stick figures.”
I never understood why people would feel the need to tell me this, I wasn’t born drawing. No one is, and yet, people assumed that only certain types of people can draw. But anyone can draw! I would never consider myself talented, because I worked hard. I drew constantly, and when I didn’t my skills grew stagnant. It’s just like learning every other skill.
But why draw? Sure, you can commission an artist to paint you a picture, and I highly recommend it too! There are so many great artists with unique styles out there. So what can you get out of it?
A lot of things, actually! This LinkedIn article outlines some of the benefits of creating and drawing.
